Message From Our Director of Cricket

Name: Peter Shaw

Role: Director of Cricket

Years at ESTCC: Joined in the 1978 season

About me

I am from Leicester and married with 3 children and 3 grandchildren.

If I had to describe myself in three words, it would be - Honest. Reliable. Approachable.

My time at Earl Shilton Town Cricket Club

We moved to Earl Shilton in Sept 1977 and I started playing in the 1978 season. I have held various positions within the club over the years, Secretary, First team and Second team captain. I have had the honour of captaining the side in two county cup finals at Grace Road, the home of LCCC, unfortunately we lost them both. My fondest and most enjoyable achievement by far was coaching the very successful Junior section between 1994 – 2001.

Looking ahead to 2021 and beyond

My role is to work to grow the club’s playing strength, encourage players through coaching and development to be the best they can and to be ambassadors for ESTCC both on and off the field. Working alongside specialist senior and Academy coaches to provide a pathway for success.

I will be looking to provide structured sessions, targeting specific skills, and making it fun, whilst remaining focused on our Vision and Goals for ESTCC.

I am a firm believer that if your good enough your old enough, but as an individual you must believe in yourself, strength comes from within. As Gary Player the great south African golfer said, “The more I practice, the luckier I get,”
