Welcome To Our Academy

The Club formed its first Junior side in 1972 coached by senior club stalwarts Eric Coe and Dick West, which was the foundation for our successful youth teams in the years that followed. Our President Dick Longdon and Chairman Mick Coe were part of that team in 1972.

Following further success when coached by another club stalwart Gwill White, our Director of Cricket Pete Shaw oversaw a successful period between 1994 and 2001. Over the years the Junior section produced many players who represented their age groups at County level and went on to be very good senior cricketers both with Earl Shilton and other clubs.

Following a decline in Junior cricket, a successful resurgence in the past couple of seasons led by Ethan Hawkins and Kyle Chamberlain, resulted in the club deciding in 2020 to rename the Junior Section as the ‘ESTCC Academy’.

The reason for this new identity is to create more presence and to provide a real ‘One Family Club’ environment, recognising the Academy as an important and integral part of the club.

Led by Kyle Chamberlain - Academy Co-ordinator, along with assistant coaches Bob Kelly and Ian Jeyes, our Academy is not exclusive, but an inclusive part of the club and a critical part of securing the clubs future. We want to provide home grown talent who are proud to play for Earl Shilton Town CC and be a fundamental part of returning the club to the highest level of cricket in the County as soon as possible.

As with any club, as young cricketers grow there are several reasons that players are lost, whether that be from losing interest because of other things in their lives, or due to moving to other clubs. However, by looking after everyone in the Academy the club seeks to maintain a steady flow of cricketers into the senior sides and to become long serving members for the rest of their lives.

Our club requires balance across its playing side as young cricketers become eligible to play in the senior side, and as such following the appointment in 2020 of professional coaches - Tom Flowers Cricket Coaching, we intend to raise standards and drive the club forward giving everyone the opportunity to enjoy cricket at Earl Shilton Town CC.
